Joel S. Rampton  1955 ~ 2007

Joel Stringham Rampton, our wonderful husband, father, grandfather and son passed away unexpectedly September 27, 2007.Joel was born May 14, 1955 in St. George, Utah, son of John Robertson Rampton, Jr. and Mary Stringham Rampton. Raised in Bountiful, he attended Viewmont High School where he excelled at football. Mom Mary was his #1 fan. His first job was working for Baskin-Robbins ice cream, where he earned his nickname "Big Scoop." He enjoyed sharing his journey to Eagle Scout with his dad John.

Joel received a football scholarship to play for Dixie College, where he met Kelley Bakker. They were married August 24, 1976 in the Salt Lake Temple. Joel and Kelly settled in Bountiful, where he began his career in woodworking and they started their family, eventually welcoming two sons and one daughter. A master craftsman, he became well known and very widely respected throughout the industry for his artistry and work ethic, always giving 110%. A big Jazz fan, Joel was also a scratch golfer. He loved yard work, their three dogs, watching football, his family and holding his one month old granddaughter.

Joel is survived by wife, Kelley; son, Greg; daughter, Meghan of Farmington; son, Clifford (Amber); and granddaughter, Sydney of Bountiful; parents, John and Mary Rampton of Bountiful; sister, Sue (Sonny) Dyle of Mapleton.
