Farmington man killed in car-bicycle mishap - By PAUL CHALLIS

FARMINGTON--A Farmington man was instantly killed in a bicycle-automobile accident

Wednesday morning on the frontage road at 800 West.

Stephan 1. Bown, 35, was pronounced dead at the scene after receiving injuries to his head and upper body, according to a report by Utah Highway Patrol Trooper John Mitchell.

Mitchell reported that Bown was struck by a 1988 Toyota Tercel driven by Trudi A. Zippro, 26, Farmington. The Halloween day accident occurred at 6:45 a.m. when both Bown and Zippro were heading south on the Farmington frontage road. The automobile driver told the UHP that because it was still dark she didn't see the bicycle until she hit the victim.

Zippro hit the bike on the right front of her vehicle. Bown was tossed into the windshield and was thrown into the air, landing on the roadway. The UHP report said the car was traveling about 55 mph and the bicycle at 20 mph when the accident occurred.

Bown was wearing a white top and black pants. He was later transported to the Lakeview Hospital from the scene.

Eyewitnesses told the investigating Trooper. that it wasn't uncommon for Bown, married and the father of four children, to be seen exercising on his bike in the early morning on the frontage road.
